The CMAs May Have Snubbed Beyonce, but her impact was still felt.

To the surprise of many, especially after delivering such a stellar product with Cowboy Carter, Beyonce received zero nominations for this year’s CMA Awards.

Now, Bey’s beef with the CMAs goes back till 2016, when she felt un welcomed by the organization.  She packed all those emotions into her latest project, which was five years in the making to be exact. The musical phenomenon wrote:

“It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history.”

With that, Bey not only dropped a stellar project, but as she stated, she also put the spotlight on some amazing black country artists.

Which leads us to our point. We do in fact believe she was snubbed, however, Shaboozey, who was featured on two singles off her project, was nominated for two awards: best new artist and single of the year.

No stranger to country music with his 11-track debut, Lady Wrangler, coming out in October 2018. This was Shaboozey’s first time being recognized and nominated by the organization.

In acknowledgment of his nominations he addressed the opportunities created by the Global phenom in a tweet.

“That goes without saying, Thank you @Beyonce for opening a door for us, starting a conversation, and giving us one of the most innovative country albums of all time!”

We’re just as upset as the masses that Queen Bey was snubbed, but we look forward to Shaboozey taking one or both trophies home, and proving that the needle is still moving.
