On Our Calendar: Apple Original Films "SIDNEY" [Trailer]

Sidney Poitier was an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist at the center of Hollywood and the Civil Rights Movement. Among many notable accomplishments, he was the first African American actor and first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor.

His death was such a blow to Black Hollywood and the world, so we were super happy to receive the news that a documentary surrounding his life was in the works. Whats even more exciting, is that the Apple Original Films documentary, titled SIDNEY will be out on the platform on September 23!

Wait, there is more! The documentary is produced by our favorite wealthy Auntie, Oprah Winfrey and directed by Academy Award nominee Reginald Hudlin. The doc promises to honor the legend and his legacy as an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist. Featuring interviews with Hollywood notables like Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Lenny Kravitz, Barbra Streisand, Spike Lee and many more, the film is also produced by Derik Murray, in close collaboration with the Poitier family.
