5 DJ’s The World Should Know (Male Edition): DJ Ominaya
DJ Ominaya is my guy. The second event series I ever hosted, over ten years ago was with him. He’s been working. Overtime.
Having grown up in the birthplace of Hip-Hop, it’s no surprise that DJ Ominaya chose a career in which he could celebrate the music he spent so many years absorbing. From an Early Age, Dj O. Minaya has been a student of the game. He learned to spin at just 14 years old and took influence from East Coast Legends DJ Enuff, Kid Capri, and Brucie B who he considered to be mentors in his formative years. DJ O. Minaya Spent the first few years of his career balancing a career in DJing while maintaining a full-time job at H&M as a Visual Manager.
In 2014 he decided to quit his job of 15 years to focus on a career as a full-time DJ.
Since then, O. Minaya has gone on to work events like ComplexCon, Rolling Loud &
Lollapalooza. In 2017 he was selected as A Boogie’s Tour DJ for The Bigger Artist Tour.
Currently, DJ. Ominaya balances DJing on the Wendy Williams Show, “C’ mon Son”
The Podcast, and the Shade 45 Music Channel.
